Connie I. Schmohe, 72, of Carmel passed away June 21, 2019. She was born December 3, 1946, in Bloomington, IL, the daughter of the late Donald and Dorothy (Lewis) Witt. She married James Schmohe on June 17, 1967.
Connie was challenged with enduring Alzheimer’s disease for many years. Her husband and caretakers worked above and beyond to keep her comfortable with plenty of hugs and smiles. But before this challenging time, there were many adventures and experiences that made her a special person – from her long, tireless road to her college degree (four different schools through motherhood, family and life until achieving her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Cincinnati!), her work as the church secretary at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Fairfield, Ohio, to her work as a legal secretary at Schuessler Law Firm in Mason, Ohio. Connie was also an avid lover of history, especially American Revolutionary times. She enjoyed visiting historical sites and a highlight of her life was achieving her dream of visiting Colonial Williamsburg at Christmas time. Above all, Connie was a giving wife, mother and grandmother who especially loved her almost yearly trips with Jim to Maine to sit on her favorite rock, enjoy long walks along the coast, look at the ocean and sip wine.
She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, James Schmohe; daughter, Kari Schmohe; two granddaughters, Hallie and Katelynn; and a brother, Kevin Witt.
Memorial services will be at 12 noon Saturday, June 29, 2019, at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 2201 East 106thStreet. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to Riley Children’s Foundation. Arrangements were entrusted to Flanner Buchanan – Carmel.
