Conner Ross Macleod Delong

Conner Ross Macleod DeLong, 32, passed away October 20th, 2021. He was born in Indianapolis, October 14th, 1989, to parents Robert DeLong and Sandy Ross-DeLong. 

Conner was a 2008 graduate of Lawrence Central High School. During high school, he was an all-state soccer player, leading LC to multiple conference and county titles, as well as winning state with his club. He continued his education and soccer career at Marian University. 

Conner entered the world of television production at an early age, assisting his dad at various sporting events. His love for the business carried him through several different positions at NBC, where he ultimately became their go-to Internet Technician, a job at which he excelled and, more importantly, enjoyed. Traveling was a large component of his career, and one of the things he loved the most. Conner was incredibly proud to have worked at many prestigious golf tournaments, including The British Open, The U. S. Open, and The Ryder Cup. He also had the privilege to work alongside his father at the Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2016) as well as South Korea (2018) and Tokyo (2021); he was very much looking forward to this year’s Olympics in Beijing. Conner was a dedicated employee, but enjoyed his work so much he “never worked a day in his life,” considering his NBC Golf and Indiana Pacers coworkers family. 

Adventurous and sensitive, with a generous spirit, Conner was quiet, but silly. His laugh could fill a room, which was evident to everyone he met. In his free time, Conner liked to stay active. He enjoyed traveling, playing (and watching) soccer and golf, rock climbing, and scuba diving. He was a valued member of the Maple Creek Golf Club. Conner loved hard – his people, his work, and his Indiana Pacers. 

He was a devoted son, grandson, brother, uncle, cousin, and cat dad. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 

Conner is survived by his loving parents, Bob and Sandy; his siblings Hillary (Todd Brazda) DeLong and Payton DeLong; nephew Oliver DeLong; Aunt and Uncle Sherrie and Jerry House; cousins Kate, John, and Brian House; “double cousins” Isabelle and Elaina House; and kitties Oscar and Missy. 

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Marion and Helen DeLong and Gilbert and Margaret Ross; and his childhood kitties Lucy and Monty.

Conner’s memorial service will be Saturday, December 18th, at Flanner Buchanan – Geist, 7855 Cork Road, Indianapolis IN 46236, at 4pm.
