Clifton J Durham Jr.

Clifton (Jim) J. Durham, Jr., 72, passed away on June 20, 2019. Clifton was born on June 8th, 1947 in Indianapolis to Clifton J. Durham Sr. and Margaret Louise Durham. Clifton was a 1966 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School. He was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army Reserve and retired from the Marion County Sheriff’s Department as a Captain after 39 years. Clifton was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Independent Order of Foresters, and the American Legion. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling, fishing, singing and dancing. He especially loved helping his community and spending time with his family.

Clifton is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sandra J. Durham; his children Clifton, Brian, and Jerry; grandchildren Charles (Samantha), Kylie (Henry), Ciara (David), Bryson, Seth, and Kara; great-grandchildren Wesley and Nora; siblings Norma Kirchhofer, Marilyn (Roy) Shurtleff, Ruth Ann Dearth, and Stephen (Nancy) Durham and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clifton and Margaret, sister P. Jane Montgomery, and brother Charles Keith.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019 from 4-8pm at Flanner Buchanan – Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229.  A funeral service will follow on Friday, June 28, 2019 at 10am, also at the funeral home.
