Clara Bell Collins

Indianapolis, Indiana

Clara Bell Collins was born February 18, 1930 in French Lick Indiana, was the daughter of Beatrice and Henry Willis.
Clara was raised in French Lick Indiana in the Catholic Church. She attended French Lick Highschool from which she graduated with honors. Clara went on to attend the University of Nevada completing her Undergraduate Degree and then completing her Master’s Degree of Social Work at Marion College. She was a member of Alpha Kapa Alpha Sorority. Clara moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where she was united in holy matrimony to Dr. Robert Carl Collins. Clara and Robert were married at Holy Angels Catholic Church on August 16, 1952. They spent 60 loving years together until the passing of Robert whom she called “Bip” on their 60th Anniversary (August 16, 2012). To this union, Robert and Keith Collins were born.
Clara spent many years working for the Marion County Department of Public Welfare doing home visits and outreach in her community trying to make a difference. Clara was known for her caring spirit and always willing to help anyone in need. After Clara retired, she was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed her role as matriarch of the Collins family. Clara enjoyed going to the movies, social engagements with her friends, attending mass at Holy Angels Catholic Church, going out to dinner, shopping, and most of all spending time with her family and friends.
Clara departed this life on January 14, 2020 after 89 wonderful years. She was proceeded in death by her parents Beatrice and Henry Willis, her Brother Henry Willis Jr., Husband Dr. Robert Carl Collins, and son Robert Carl Collins Esq.
Clara is survived by her Son and Daughter in-law Keith and Tamiko Collins. Brother Pete Willis. Grandchildren Ashley Collins-Martin, Amber Collins-Gebrehiwet, Robert Collins IV, Marlena Boatright, Sydney Collins, Keith Collins Jr., Justus Collins, Alex Collins, Alana Collins and Samira Grant. Niece Julie Sangar. Great Grandchildren Addyson Norman and MJ Gebrehiwet and a host of many other friends and family members that she held dear to her heart.
