Cindy Kay Watson, 63, of Fishers, IN fell asleep in the Lord on September 19th, 2020. Cindy was born in Minneapolis, MN on November 18th, 1956 to Russell and Rose (Wagner) Hammer. Cindy was the only girl in a family of 4 brothers, which bred a competitive spirit in her that lasted throughout her life. She didn’t play ‘organized’ football, hockey, or baseball, but it would be wrong to say she didn’t play. Although she was a tomboy, dance lessons were a big part of her life. Over the course of 11 years of tap, ballet, and jazz, dancing became her passion.
Cindy graduated from Burnsville High School in 1974 and began working for a heavy equipment Caterpillar dealer in the accounting department; this is where she learned the ins and outs of accounts payable. She then moved to Arizona to be closer to her mother, where she found the love of her life Rick Watson.
Cindy had the gift of listening without judgment, giving a soft answer, and providing wise council. This was most evident at the girl’s boarding school, “Genesis by the Sea”, in Baja, Mexico. In her 3 ½ years of full-time ministry, she counseled many teenage girls that had lost their way and stayed in touch with many of them until her final days. Rick and Cindy moved to southern California in 2000 to raise their two boys, Chris and Chase. For the next 10 years Cindy became a homemaker and homeschooled her boys. In 2003 they moved to Fishers, IN where she continued homeschooling. In 2005 she joined Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church as the Office Administrator. After 14 years she retired with a Proclamation of Honor from the Church.
Since devoting her life to Christ in November 1992, faith was the foundation of her life. She continued to learn and strengthen her relationship with Jesus as a member of Hamilton Hills Church. Her deep connection with the Lord allowed her to touch many lives and lead by example. Her devotion to Rick, her husband of 42 years, has provided a perfect blueprint of a happy marriage, which has had a lasting impact on everyone that knew them. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents and youngest brother, Douglas Hammer. Cindy is survived by her husband, Rick Watson, her son and daughter-in-law Chris and Taylor Watson, son Chase Watson, brothers Jonathan, Donald, and Jeffrey Hammer, and sister by choice Mary Jo “MJ” Booth.
A celebration of Cindy’s life will be held on Friday, October 9, 2020 at Hamilton Hill’s Church, 10293 East 126th Street, Fishers, IN at 6pm.
