Charles Lee "Chuck" Jordan Jr.

May 20, 1940 — September 1, 2024

Charles Lee Jordan Jr. passed away 9/1/2024 after a recent illness. He was born May 20, 1940, in Terre Haute, IN to Charles L. Jordan and Marjorie M. Jordan. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wonderful wife and companion of 57 years, Sherry and by his precious granddaughter, Jessica Jordan Brady. He graduated from Gerstmeyer HS, where he participated in several sports. Chuck moved his family to Indpls in 1965 to accept a management position with Blue Cross - Blue Shield, where he later became Director of Personnel. He also held management positions with Avis Rent A Car and Zales Jewelers. He also started two successful businesses, Continental Detective Agency, Inc and Indiana Recruiters, Inc. In his semi-retirement years, he, his wife and son, formed Jordan and Associates, LLC, a private investigative firm. He was a proud Army veteran, enlisted in 1959 and received his first Honorable Discharge in 1965. He re-enlisted in the Army Reserves in 1982 and served in both the Reserves and the Army National Guard until receiving his final Honorable Discharge in 1998, having attained the rank of MSG E-8. During his military service, he accumulated in excess of 110 college credit hours, which were later transferred to Indiana University. He also was awarded several medals of honor for his military service.  He held a substitute teacher’s permit and served as a mentor, both through the Speedway School system.  He was a member of American Legion Post #500, the NRA, and several past personnel and private investigative organizations. He also served on the Board of the Saddlebrook HOA.  Chuck enjoyed all things racing, NASCAR, the Indy 500 and stock car racing. He in fact, drove one season at the Indpls Speedrome, until he had a wreck which his wife witnessed. She then said, “That’s it, no more” and honoring her wishes, his racing career came to an abrupt halt.  He also enjoyed cheering for the Indpls Colts, Packers, the old Oakland Raiders and most recently the Kansas City Chiefs.  He also took great joy being involved in youth sports as a little league coach, guiding his “Dodgers” to win the 1971 League Championship.  In addition, he loved sitting on his back porch keeping the birds, chipmunks, squirrels, raccoons and the occasional stray cat very well fed.  Chuck especially loved spending time with his family, friends and all the wonderful pets he and Sherry had over the years.

He is survived by his 3 children, Sherry (Allen) Brady-Yagle, Chuck Jordan and Julie (Larry) Green. Granddaughters, Megan (Vance) Smith, Darcy (Matt) Ernst, and Aly (Matt) Rayner. Grandson, Zach Yagle. Great- grandchildren, Landon, Brinley, Cooper and Aria.  Sister, Marcia Norman of Terre Haute, as well as many loving extended family.  Private Services will be held for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Indpls Humane Society. Heartfelt thanks to all who supported our family through this difficult time and made this journey easier to bear.
