Warrensburg, Missouri

Christine M. Bauer, 90, passed away June 5, 2022 in Warrensburg, Missouri.  She was born November 13, 1931 in Thomaston, Maine, to the late Cyrus C. and Lena E. (Young) Maxcy.

Chris was class valedictorian of her high school, and enlisted in the Air Force after graduation, becoming an early member of the WAF (Women in the Air Force). She met Russell H. Bauer while serving in the Air Force, and in 1952 they married in Baltimore, Maryland. Together they raised five loving children and traveled the world, eventually settling in Indianapolis. She was the heart of her family, the glue that held things together during tough times, and she greatly loved her many dachshunds.

She attended Arizona State University. Over her career she delivered newspapers, worked in canneries, served in the Air Force, and held various positions in retail, insurance, and banking. She was a member of the Heather Hills, Indiana, and Warrensburg, Missouri, congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Chris was preceded in death by her husband, Russell H. Bauer, and son, Robert L. Bauer. She is survived by her daughter, Meredith L. (Gregg) Basham of Indianapolis, Indiana; sons Brian H. (Anne) Bauer of Silver Spring, Maryland, Scott C. (Shavonne) Bauer of Springboro, Ohio, and Andrew M. (Linda) Bauer of Warrensburg, Missouri; as well as 10 grandchildren, 16½ great-grandchildren, and her dachshund, Kasey.

Services are private, with interment at Washington Park East Cemetery.
