Christine Contos

Christine Settles Contos, 92, of Indianapolis, passed away November 1, 2016.
Chris was born on October 13, 1924 in Indianapolis, to the late Ulysses “Jake” and Minnie Settles. The youngest of 13 children she grew up during the great depression and attended Warren Central High School. She met the love of her life Louis Contos at the age of 19 and they were married August 29, 1943. Chris ran her household for many years, and then began working at Paul Harris until she worked her way into management. After retiring she and her husband began working at Market Square Arena and then Conseco Fieldhouse for the Indiana Pacers working the elevators for the private suites. She devoted much of her time as the family genealogist and enjoyed fishing and spending time at the beach.
She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Louis J. Contos, children; Steven (Katherine) Contos and Patricia (Hunter) Rackley, 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Carol Harris, and 12 siblings.
Friends and family are invited to gather on Thursday, November 3rd, from 5-7pm and on Friday, November 4th from 11am-12pm with the funeral service to follow at 12:00pm at Flanner and Buchanan- Washington Park East.
