Christa Steichele

Christa Steichele, age 74, of Westfield, IN passed away on December 25, 2018. Christa was born on February 21, 1944 in Schweinfurt, Germany to Hans and Else (Kessler) Kraemer. After spending her childhood and teen years growing up in Germany, she met a handsome U.S. serviceman who was stationed in her hometown of Schweinfurt. Christa soon after married Hugo Steichele and immigrated to the United States in 1962. Christa lived in Erie, PA where she enjoyed learning English, tending to her home and flower gardens, cooking wonderful German meals, and raising her only child. In June of 2008 Christa moved to Westfield, IN to be closer to her family. She also made many new friends and traveled the world, always making time to visit family and friends in Germany. Christa was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Hugo Steichele. She is survived by her son Gary Steichele, daughter-in-law Kathryn (Peyton) Steichele, and twin grandsons Aaron and Tyler Steichele of Zionsville. Calling will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Flanner and Buchanan-Zionsville, 105 West Pine Street, Zionsville, IN 46077 from 1pm to 4pm, followed by the funeral service at 4pm. Private family inurnment will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Fishers, IN. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
