Dr. Chris H. Miller, 82, of Westfield, Indiana passed away peacefully on Monday, October 28th, 2024. He was surrounded by his family, including his loving wife Sharon (Dye) of 61 years. Chris was born in Indianapolis to James and Louise. He attended Howe High School (‘60), Butler University (‘64) and earned his Masters of Science and Philosophy Doctorate degrees from the University of North Dakota (‘69).
Dr. Miller accepted an appointment to create the Department of Oral Microbiology at the Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1970.
Dr. Miller was Professor Emeritus of Oral Microbiology, Executive Association Dean Emeritus, Associate Dean Emeritus for Academic Affairs and Graduate Education at Indiana University School of Dentistry.
In 1984, He co-founded The Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP.) He was an author and a spokesperson for the American Dental Association and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
He is survived by his wife (Sharon) children Matthew (Sharon), Kristine (Tim), Jake and Bennett. His grandchildren, Kyle (Amber) Brach, Matthew, Victoria (Dean) Olivia (Kyle) Jacob and Anna, and great-grandchildren Coltyn and Weston. He is preceded in death by his mother (Louise) father James and brother David.
A visitation will be held on November 6th from 11-1:30 p.m. at Flanner Buchanan - Hamilton Memorial Park (Prairie Waters), 4180 Westfield Rd. Westfield, Indiana 46062. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation.
