Charles Thomas “Tom” Russell, Jr., of Wanamaker, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018, at the age of 71. Tom was born on October 9, 1947 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Charles Russell, Sr. and Antoinette (Sauer) Russell.
Tom grew up in Indianapolis and joined the Marine Corps at the age of 19. He proudly served five years active duty for his country and earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Rifle Marksman award during his service. Tom married Diana McKnight on October 11, 1969 and spent the rest of his life by her side. In their younger years they enjoyed riding motorcycles and even took a trip to Texas on one. Tom also enjoyed riding dirt bikes, hunting and he LOVED cars; street rods were his favorite! When he began to wind down later in life he took to collecting coins.Tom was preceded in death by: his parents, Charles and Antoinette; sister, Patrica (Russell) Stevens; nephew, Justin Russell.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Diana; sons, Tim (Sheri) Russell, Brian (Nikki) Russell; grandson, Cody Russell; granddaughter, Grace Shrum; brother James “Jim” (Theresa) Russell.
A visitation will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East Funeral Center, 10722 E Washington Street, Indianapolis, on Sunday, November 25, 2018 from 1-5 p.m. A Funeral Service with Military Honors will be held at the Funeral Center on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 2 p.m.
