Charles "Taffy" Tafflinger

Charles L. Tafflinger passed away peacefully on Friday, August 2, 2019 at age 89. Born and raised in Indianapolis, IN, he was the son of the late Forrest and Dorothy Bosley Tafflinger.

Charles “Taffy” was a firefighter for the city of Indianapolis for 46 years. He also served in the Naval Reserves from 1950-1954. He is survived by his children, Scott, Susie Tafflinger Schulz, and Tim (Jennifer) Tafflinger; Four grandchildren, Christopher, Ryan (Sidney), Karl and Molly (Brad); two great grandchildren, Charles Thomas “Charlie” and Maverick. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded by his beloved wife, Betty Tafflinger and his brother, Richard.

Charles “Taffy” was an avid snow skier and boater. He spent many days on the lake with his family and friends tirelessly teaching all the kids how to ski. He was a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, and friend. He gave and gave to anyone who needed help and never complained. He gave generously to the Salvation Army bell ringers at Christmas and even served as a bell ringer himself. He was a tower of strength, and he never missed an opportunity to throw in a Taffy joke!

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 9, 2019 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park North 2706 Kessler Blvd West Dr. An additional viewing will be held Saturday morning from 9-11am, with the funeral service at 11:00AM. Burial will be at Washington Park North Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Charles’s name to ALZ.ORG.
