Charles Robert “Bob” McKinley, 75, of Plainfield, Indiana passed away on August 3, 2018. He was born March 21, 1943 in West Newton, Indiana to William and Charline McKinley.
He was a Decatur Central class of 1961 graduate and went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and his master’s degree from Butler University. He met the love of his life, Cathie, in high school. The two were married August 19, 1967 and they raised three daughters together. Bob was an educator, working for Wayne Township at Ben Davis High School for 35 years teaching English and French. He enjoyed going to casinos, collecting stamps, antiques and genealogy. He also had interest in flowers, birds and had an eclectic taste in music; listening to everything from The Irish Tenors to Pink. Bob enjoyed family vacations, especially trips to Florida and going to the lake.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Bill McKinley. Surviving to cherish his memory are loving wife of 51 years, Cathie; children, Melissa (George) Marks, Beth Anne Wood, Cristine (Randy) Brackney; siblings, Margie Bradshaw and Don McKinley; 10 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to visit Monday, August 6 from 4-8 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Decatur Township. Services will take place Tuesday at 1 PM, with visitation from 12-1 PM, at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, 9201 E County Road 100 N, Avon, IN 46123. He will be laid to rest at Concordia Cemetery immediately following services.
