Charles Richard (Dick) Smoot

Charles Richard (Dick) Smoot, 85, of Carmel, Indiana passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022. He was born in Indianapolis to the late Homer and Clarice Smoot on September 21, 1936.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon, and children Rick (Sandy) Smoot, Cindy Smoot, Missy (Les) Taulbee, son-in-law Geoff Cox and grandson Caden Cox.

He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Anne Smoot Cox, and brothers Willis, Paul, Ray, and Hugh.

Dick proudly served in the U.S. Army.  He retired after 36 years of being an Owner/Operator of various oil company service stations to include Texaco, Mobil, Sunoco, and Amoco.

Dick was a member of the Carmel community for over 50 years and will be greatly missed by family, friends, and all the lives he ever touched.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2022, from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm, with services starting at 2:00 pm at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel, 325 E. Carmel Drive, Carmel, IN 46032, with burial following at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
