Charles M. Eldridge
87, of Avon, Indiana, passed away on May 1, 2019. He was born on June 24, 1931 in Ewing, Virginia to the late Charles and Maggie Eldridge. Charles was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #723 and the Scottish Rite. He was a member of Bridgeport Central Baptist Church where he was a trustee and usher. Upon retirement he and his wife became snow birds and wintered in Naples, Florida. He loved gardening, camping, boating and had a passion for working on anything broken. “If it turned and burned he could fix it.” He enjoyed gatherings with children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews. Most importantly he loved his Lord and enjoyed church activities and being involved. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Wayne and Lynn Eldridge. He is survived by his wife, Martha Carolyn McElyea Eldridge; children Rhonda (Doug) Walker, Kevin (Debbie) Eldridge, Jeff (Lisa) Eldridge and Shawn (Stephanie) Eldridge; grandchildren Erin, Michael, Caleb, Jacob, Isaiah, Brianna, Emma and Luke; great-grandchildren Isabella, Kellan, Charlotte, Logan, Emmett, Carter, Carson and Chase; sisters Angeline, Venus, Thelma and Evalene and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday, May 5, 2019 from 2 to 6 pm at Flanner Buchanan-Decatur Township. Service will be Monday, May 6, 2019 at 11 am at Flanner Buchanan-Decatur Township. Burial will follow at West Newton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 575 N. Pennsylvania Street, Room 324, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
