Charles Leroy Highsmith

Charles Leroy Highsmith, age 72, formerly of Greencastle, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2019.

Born January 30,1947 in Greencastle, he was the son of Charles and Elizabeth Maxine (O’Conner) Highsmith. He married Rita (Sargent) Highsmith on December 26, 2004 and she survives.

Charlie was a mechanic until he retired. He was a Vietnam Veteran. His hobbies included playing solitaire on the computer and tinkering around in his shed. Before moving out of Putnam County, he was a member of the Greencastle Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Highsmith; daughter, Amanda Highsmith, and stepson Timothy (Annber) Ruble; sister Bernnetta Williams; three granddaughters, Savanah, Annabelle and Daisia; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Rowena Whitaker and brother-in-law David Williams.

A memorial service will be held at 4 PM on Saturday, August 31 at the Greencastle Church of the Nazarene, 580 S. Co Rd 100 E, Greencastle.
