Charles E. Spencer, 81, of New Palestine, passed away on June 10, 2019.
Charles was born on June 1, 1938 in Indianapolis to the late Edgar and Mary Spencer. He faithfully served his country in the United States Navy and had a long career in the trucking industry retiring after 25 years of faithful service from Yellow Freight. He was a member of the 1st Church of the Nazarene, enjoyed being outdoors, camping and boating and traveling with his family, and spent 8 years of his retirement as a snowbird in LaBelle, Florida.
He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Nancy J. Spencer; children, Danny Spencer (Theresa) and Pam Hornett (Bob); grandchildren, Nicole Hagemeyer (Stephen) and Joshua Hornett (Abigail); great-granddaughters, Gracie and Paisley; and siblings, Barbara Cooke (Dell), James Spencer (Debbie), Richard Spencer (Nancy), and Rosemary McCaffrey. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Wanda Ramsey, Laura Ruth Welsh (Donnie) and Howard Spencer (Maggie).
Friends and family are invited to gather from 12:00pm-2:00pm, on Friday, June 14, 2019 at Flanner Buchanan- Washington Park East, where a funeral service will follow at 2:00pm. He will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Charles’s honor may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, 9401 E. 25th Street, Indianapolis, IN.
