Age 85, of Fairland, IN, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017. Charles was born in Jasper, IN on August 5, 1931 to the late Joseph and Josepha (Marks) Wagner. He served his country honorably in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Charles graduated from Purdue University, with a bachelor’s degree in engineering. During his career, he worked for General Motors, Allison Division, retiring after 42 years of service.

Charles was a member of Nativity Catholic Church and formerly the Sertoma Club. He was a hard worker and in his free time, he enjoyed tennis, woodworking, traveling, but especially just spending time with his beloved family and friends.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Josepha and a daughter-in-law, Teresa Wagner.

He will be lovingly missed by his wife of nearly 64 years, Marilyn J. (Hesterwerth) Wagner; his children: Sharon Roembke (Mark), Liz Grant (Jerry), Michael Wagner and Diane Rader (Mitch); grandchildren: Ami, Derek, Angi, Ashley, Wesley, Joey, Megan, Michelle, Jennifer, Jonathan, Austin, Joseph and Nikki; great-grandchildren: Leah, Cara, Rylan, Reece, Claire, Caitlyn and Brady; his brother, Richard Wagner (Ella); as well as many other loving family members and friends.

Friends may gather from 4pm until 8pm on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Flanner and Buchanan- Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Nativity Catholic Church, 7225 Southeastern Avenue, Indianapolis. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the church.
