Charles Duane Handrick

Charles Duane Handrick, 83, of Knightstown, IN (formerly Indianapolis), passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022.  He was born on November 25, 1938 in Oakland City, IN to the late Harry Handrick and Alleda S. (Northerner) Handrick Smith.

Chuck left school at the age of 17 to enlist in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1955-1959 as an aircraft mechanic on the USS Enterprise-CV6.  He completed his education while serving his country.  After only 3 months of dating, Chuck married the love of his life, Brenda Corbin, on February 19, 1960 and together they celebrated 62 years of marriage.

Chuck was a dedicated employee of the Ford Motor Company, retiring as a Job Setter/Supervisor after 30+ years of service.  He enjoyed his family first and foremost as well as bowling, maintaining his large property, and spending time on his boat fishing.

Chuck will be remembered as a loving husband, wonderful father, and doting grandfather/ great-grandfather.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Handrick; his sister, Pamela Bivens; his children, Kevin Handrick, Kenna Birch, Kemberly Zieles, Kay Lynn Thorne; his 9 grandchildren; and his 5 great-grandchildren.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; Harry Handrick (1938) and his mother, Alleda (Northerner) Handrick Smith (2016).

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 12pm – 2pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East with a funeral service immediately following.  Guests unable to attend services in person may join the family virtually by clicking HERE.  Chuck will be laid to rest in Washington Park East Cemetery at a later date.
