Charles Douglas Peelle, 73, of Westfield, IN, passed away on June 20, 2022, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born on October 8, 1948, in Richmond, Indiana, to the late Charles and Evelyn Peelle. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, son Graham (daughter-in-law Jacquelyn), son Chad, grandchildren Bennett, Charlotte, Nora, and Scarlet, and siblings Debbie Rothbard, Rick Peelle, and Sarah Gannon.
Charles, lovingly known as Doug, graduated with a BA in Latin Studies from Northwestern University, and attended Indiana University for graduate studies. He also served in the United States Navy in Vietnam.
Doug had a career in the restaurant industry with several companies, managed and partnered in a manufacturing business, and had yet another career in accounting and finance, which he eventually built into his own business. Doug was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta (Fiji) Fraternity, American Legion, and Sahm Golf Course Men’s Club – Senior League.
Doug was fond of playing golf, music, and sports (especially Indiana Hoosiers Basketball). He regularly attended the Indy 500, and above all, loved time with his family. Whether it was rocking with a band or hitting the links, Doug loved to play. He was known to be determined, a hard worker, great leader, and to have a fun-loving personality.
Seeing the beautiful and profound in all things, but especially nature, family, and music, Doug loved reading and writing poetry. He published some of his works as “Treasures in My Soul” under the pen name C Taylor White, after his father, Charles Taylor White Peelle.
Visitation will be Monday, June 27th, from 2 pm to 4 pm, with a private Memorial Service to follow at 4 pm, at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel, 325 E. Carmel Drive, Carmel, Indiana. A Celebration of Life reception will be on July 24th from 1 pm to 4 pm at Wood Wind Golf Club in Westfield, Indiana.
