Charles Alan Lindstrom, pharmacist and entrepreneur, was surrounded by family members when he passed away peacefully on March 23, 2021. He was 74.
Charles was born in Joliet, IL on June 13, 1946 to the late Carl and Marie Lindstrom. Chuck, as he was affectionately known, worked in the independent neighborhood pharmacy while attending Joliet Township Highschool, where he played flute in the marching band. He then attended Joliet Junior College and after graduating, went on to Butler University’s School of Pharmacy in Indianapolis. He was a member of the Phi Delta Chi fraternity and graduated from Butler in 1969. Chuck practiced as a pharmacist at Nora Apothecary for four years, until he purchased it in 1973. He successful ran the apothecary until his retirement in 2015.
Charles A Lindstrom (Chuck) was the pharmacist’s pharmacist. He was courageous and innovative in his profession and was loyal to his employees. Chuck adopted the use of computers in 1981, long before his contemporaries. Nora Apothecary was the first compounding only pharmacy in Indiana. Chuck brought to Indiana innovative trans-dermal (through the skin) routes of administration and a rare ophthalmic that could save patients from blindness. He made medications into liquid forms that even tasted good! In the 1990’s, he expanded his practice to include veterinary medicine, providing his client’s pets a full range of life-saving compounds. Chuck was always years ahead on his pharmacy science, compounding technology and business trends. Chuck was the favorite interview for several local tv stations, providing the inside news on pharmacy.
Chuck had a passion for wine, great food and for throwing a fantastic party! He had an exuberant love of life and frequently traveled all over the globe.
Chuck is survived by his brother and sister-in law Swede (Carl) and Judy Lindstrom, his son Eric C. Lindstrom, his daughter K. Elise Lindstrom (Eric Roberson), and the mother for his children, Susan Lindstrom. He has one grandchild, Conrad Roberson Lindstrom. We also remember his recently deceased son, Christopher Lindstrom.
Chuck’s Celebration of life will be held Wednesday April 14th at 6pm at Flanner Buchanan-Broad Ripple, 1305 Broad Ripple Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46220. Visitation will begin there at 5pm.
