Charlene D. Worland

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations in memory of Char go to Gleaners Food Bank.

Charlene D Worland, age 85, passed away December 4^th, 2022 surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Charlene was married to Carl A. Worland, who preceded her in death on December 21^st, 2017. They were married on September 2^nd, 1955. Charlene is survived by her 3 children and their respective spouses: Michael (Tory) Worland and his husband Greg, Dawn Greaves and her husband Critch and Gary Worland and his wife Judy, as well as six grandchildren: Shannon Stahley and her husband Brad, Ryan Widmer and his wife Joyce, Megan Geherin and her husband Patrick, Thomas Greaves and his wife Frances, Brian Worland and his wife Janelle and Adam Widmer and his wife Hannah, and also six great grandchildren.

Charlene was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School, and worked as a legal administrator once her children were in grade school. She grew up in Indianapolis, and was the daughter of Charles and Alma Brinkman. Her father was 56 when she was born, and had a long career in Vaudeville prior to marrying Alma. Once married he opened a printing press in their garage. Mom spoke fondly of the time she spent with her father there, and of going with him on deliveries, singing old Vaudeville songs between stops, like “Shine on Harvest Moon.” Her mom worked full time, and Charlene learned to cook, clean and keep a home running at an early age. Charlene used to joke that Dad fell in love with her for her chocolate chip cookies. She was devoted to Carl and her family and will be missed by us all.

The family is hosting a celebration of life at the home of Tory and Greg Worland at 2 pm on Saturday December 10th, with an open house to follow until 4. The address is 6461 Harbridge Road, Indianapolis, IN 46220.
