Cecil Mains

December 15, 1958 — August 20, 2020

Indianapolis, Indiana

Cecil R. Mains,

61, of Indianapolis, passed away on August 20, 2020. He was born on December 15, 1958, to the Late Howard “Harold” and Maysie Mains. Cecil grew up in Indianapolis, and at age 18 met the love of his life, Debra “Debbie”. They were married on August 2, 1977 and spent their 43 years together living on the east and south sides of Indianapolis. Cecil was a wonderful husband who always treated Debbie like a Queen. Anything she wanted he got for her, and they were as much in love over 43 years as they were on the day they said, “I do.”

Cecil was a long-haired hippie who loved classic rock and cars. He was an auto parts salesman and worked on cars in his spare time. His family remembers trips to Brown County and to the Speedrome to watch car racing, as well as going out for night fishing adventures. Cecil and Debbie took several trips to Gatlinburg and South Dakota, enjoying the beautiful scenery. They also went out shopping every Saturday, usually to Sam’s Club and Wal-Mart, then to lunch (especially his favorite spot, Red Lobster). Cecil was a generous man: always willing to grab the check first or come over and do some repairs if there was something that needed to be fixed. He’d always involve the kids or grandkids while he was working, making sure you weren’t just watching him – you were learning, too. He was a great loving husband, father, and Paw Paw, and will be dearly missed by those that knew and love him.

Cecil is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Betty Jo Mains, Nancy Stewart, Ricky Mains, and Judy Mullins. He is survived by his devoted wife, Debbie; his children: Linda (Jason) Graham, Cecil (Jeri) Mains, Jr., and Harold (Rachael) Mains; his grandchildren: Shelbie Graham, Jason R. Graham, Tyler Graham, Andrew Mains, Bryce Mains, Mikayla Mains, Mariah Mains, Dylan Mains, and Don Strother; and thirteen brothers and sisters.

Cecil’s family will be having private funeral services, and he will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana. Funeral services have been entrusted to Flanner Buchanan – Memorial Park.
