Catherine Wilson Shackelford Nasser

Catherine Wilson Shackelford Nasser, 64, of Indianapolis, passed away at home on Saturday, February 18, 2023. She was born on July 12, 1958 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late William Andrew and Patricia Ann (Cavanaugh) Shackelford.

Cathy attended Saint Patrick’s Catholic School and Paul Schulte High School, both in Terre Haute, IN.  She graduated from Nursing School at the Community College of Southern Nevada in 1996.  Cathy worked as a stay-at-home mother up until she was 42 years old, and then she took a job as a nurse at IU Health; she worked there for 22 years. Cathy shared her life with her husband, Arthur Nasser, for 47 years.  They were officially united in marriage at a little church down in French Lick, Indiana in April of 1984.

Cathy enjoyed keeping a nice yard and feeding the squirrels and birds. She cared for the environment and keeping the streets and beaches clean; and she loved to travel, especially long beach vacations. Cathy also loved to go out to eat with family members, especially to Mexican and Italian restaurants. She was a food critic who loved her daily large non sweet ice teas. Cathy kept up to date and active with politics, listening to celebrity gossip, and watching her favorite TV shows and Soap Operas.  She also enjoyed going to the movies, especially with her mother, sisters, and kids.  Cathy will be remembered as having the best sense of humor, and having the ability to make people laugh, even in the hardest of times.

Cathy is survived by her husband, Arthur Nasser; children, William Nasser, Arthur L. Nasser, Sally Nasser and Suzanne Nasser; and her little Italian greyhounds Lucy and Rue.  She loved her family dearly and she will be greatly missed.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents; William Shackelford and Patricia Ann (Cavanaugh) Shackelford; and her father and mother in-law, George and Anna Nasser.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at 12:00PM at St. Matthew Catholic Church at 4100 E 56th Street Indianapolis IN 46220. Burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery in Terre Haute, IN.
