Carrie Elizabeth King

November 15, 1979 — May 17, 2022

Indianapolis, IN

Carrie Elizabeth King, 42, of Indianapolis, was born on November 15, 1979, in Indianapolis, IN to Stephen and Cathy (Finch) Claycomb. Carrie was welcomed into heaven on May 17th, 2022, surrounded by her family and friends, after a successful thirteen year battle with ovarian cancer.  Carrie was a person of great integrity, creativity, vision, a real rebel, and a true warrior, always fighting the good fight for her family.

Carrie was a professional artist, photographer, and published author.  She graduated from Roncalli High School in 1998, voted as the funniest person in her class senior year. Carrie then graduated from the University of Indianapolis in 2002.  Carrie returned to Roncalli as a teacher of Visual Arts and was a photography teacher at the University of Indianapolis.  It was here that she met her husband, Richie. Carrie’s greatest passion was for her relationships with family, friends, colleagues, and students. Closely seconded, as a Master Artist / Teacher at ArtMix for 20 years, where she used her incredible talents to fulfill the mission of “art redefining disability”.

Carrie captured so many family memories, fun with friends, and weddings through her photography business CEC Photography.  She developed many lifelong friends through her unique style and vision as a professional photographer.

Carrie will be remembered best as an incredible mother, loving wife, daughter, sister, niece, and friend. Carrie’s hobbies included making memories with family in Indianapolis, Michigan, and Vincennes, photography, travelling the world, ceramics, and laughing with friends.

Carrie’s passing has brought the rekindling of many heart-warming memories and hilarious stories. For instance, she loved rocking her grandmothers’ eclectic wardrobe while on family vacations in Michigan.  Then she would sneak all the clothes into her aunts and cousins’ luggage, to everyone’s surprise when they returned home to unpack.

Carrie is survived by her loving husband of 15 years, Richard R. King III, sons Richard R. King IV (6) and Joseph Michael King (3), parents Stephen and Cathy (Finch) Claycomb, brother Stephen Claycomb, and sister-in-law Lauren (Alesso) Claycomb. Carrie is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Finch, Claycomb, King, and Peabody families.  All our families are extremely thankful for everyone who has loved Carrie.

The visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 25th from 4:00pm – 8:00pm at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church (4625 N. Kenwood Ave, Indianapolis, IN).

The memorial mass and Celebration of Life will be on Thursday, May 26 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
