On June 8, 2024, Mrs. Carolyn Virginia Wilgus (Hartz), 78, of Mooresville, IN. passed away peacefully with her family at her side.

Carolyn was born on April 11, 1946, to Joseph & Virginia (Wilsbacher) Hartz in Evansville, IN. After graduating from Evansville Memorial High School in 1964, she married her childhood sweetheart Donald A. Wilgus. They enjoyed entertaining family and friends at their Indianapolis Bed and Breakfast style home, covered bridge festivals, flea markets, auctions, garage sales, church and occasional trips to Las Vegas.

 Carolyn was known for having a great sense of humor and a very strong religious faith. She taught Special Education at RISE Learning Center, RCIA, Bereavement, Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) classes and lead various prayer groups. She was also in charge of the guitar mass at Our Lady of the Greenwood for many years. She was the caregiver for her Mother, and Mother-in-Law who lived with her.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 57 years and her family members who will continue to share her memory: daughter, Tami Wilgus of Indianapolis, son, Donald A. Wilgus Jr. (Carrie) of Michigan, two sisters, Sandy Highland (Tom) of Missouri, Shelia Patton (Dave) of Evansville, five grandchildren; Justin, Hannah, Amanda, Jacob, Nicholas and six great-grandchildren; Jason, Vanessa, Luke, Sawyer, Lily and Ember.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph & Virginia Hartz, brother, Tom Hartz (Pat), sister Linda Horstketter (Jim). Our Lord has safely wrapped her in his arms, and now you are waiting for us to be reunited.

The visitation will be held Friday, June 14, 2024, from 10am-12pm at St. Ann Catholic Church, 6350 S. Mooresville Road Indianapolis, IN and the Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 12pm. Burial will take place at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood, IN.

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Ann Catholic Church or The Alzheimer’s Association.
