Carolyn M. Parke

Carolyn Margaret (Newhouse) Parke was born on November 27, 1957 in Phoenix, Arizona to Patricia (Sentney) and John (Jack) Newhouse. She passed away peacefully at her home in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 25, 2019, where she was surrounded by her family and friends. After learning her illness was terminal, Carolyn came to terms with her situation and continued to live with love, laughter, and dignity.

It was when Carolyn was in the 9th grade that she met the boyfriend who would become the lover of her life! For Maurice and Carolyn, it was just meant to be! They started dating at 13 years old and they celebrated 38 years of marriage on June 14, 2018. They have one daughter, Alicia. Carolyn loved being Alicia’s mom! Then, she became a Mimi! When Bryce, Blake, and Preston were each born, the love just multiplied! Her grandsons were not only a big part of her life, they were the lights of her life. She was so proud of each of them.

Family and friends were important in Carolyn’s life. She stayed in touch with the people who were most important to her. Everyone who knew her will remember the way doing the most simple things with her could instantly be fun and filled with laughter. She lived her life with a beautiful smile and a very infectious laugh!

Carolyn always stayed busy. She was an avid gardener, kept a beautiful home, and enjoyed her time at the casino. She loved the thrill of the hunt at a second hand store for a vintage treasure that could be a perfect piece to fit into one of her collections. She worked at Woods Industries/Coleman Cable for 25 years and for enVista LLC for 6 years.

Carolyn was survived by her husband, Maurice; daughter, Alicia; grandsons, Bryce, Blake, and Preston; sisters, Barbara Jones, and Theresa Meredith; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Laura Newhouse; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Max and Lucy Parke; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Marlin and Angie Parke; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carla and Tony Marquez; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Patricia (Sentney) and John (Jack) Newhouse and one brother, John J. Newhouse, Jr.

Services for Carolyn will be held on Sayurday February 23, 2019 at 1:00pm at Flanner Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46250.
