Carol Sue Scotten was born on December 10th, 1934 on River Avenue in Indianapolis, at her parents, Homer and Velma Muncie’s home. The doctor stayed for 3 days because of the snow. He just parked in the middle of the street. Carol also had two brothers, Jerry and David all whom are deceased. Carol loved her Mother. Carol said her Mother named me Carol (after the Christmas Carols).
They lived on the river, which Carol later learned was the White River. At the age of one, the family moved to California. They were there for twelve years and there during the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the involvement in the Japanese and European Theaters of WWII. At the age of 13, the family moved back to Indiana.
Carol met Ronnie Scotten, and after a whirlwind romance, married. They were married for 57 years. Ronnie passed in the year 2011. In that time, they had three children, Barbara (John), Martha, and Edney (Charlotte); plus three grandchildren, Matthew (Amber), Ray (Sabrina) and Lisa (Zach), which has led to a total of eight great grandchildren.
Carol worked as a hairdresser in her and Ronnie’s home “Scottie’s Beauty Bar” in Hazelwood for eighteen years while raising three kids. She charged $2 for a shampoo, set and comb out and ALL the Gals thought that was too high. They came anyway.
Carol and Ronnie traveled for 42 years, with the kids and after the kids grew up and left.
Carol was a caregiver, always taking care of somebody, be it her parents, Ronnie’s parents, Ronnie, family members, friends and even the people who she lived with in her Crestwood home.
Very few people have friends for life. Ed and Vella Powers, Charley and Patty Stone, Ronnie and Carol, were lifetime friends. Between the six of them, there were thirteen children. The six of them all thought that it was very important the kids knew who they were and who their parents were.
Carol did oil paintings and enjoyed it. She even sold some. Did ceramics and flower arrangements as well.
Carol said she did the best she could and had a good life. What more could you want?
Now she is with Ronnie-rightfully so.
