Carol Lenese (Radford) Priest

Carol Lanese Priest (Radford), 79, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away August 22, 2020. She was born August 9, 1941 in Indianapolis to Lemuel and Lanese Radford; she was one of ten children.

Carol was a lifetime Indiana resident and proud graduate of Crispus Attucks High School. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in nursing from Marion University. She dutifully worked as a registered nurse in the Indianapolis area until her retirement in 2007. She was baptized at St. Mark as a young girl and continued to give her life to the Lord. Carol loved to travel, especially to Las Vegas, but mostly she loved her family. She always made sure everyone she loved was well cared for and had what they needed. She was strong both mentally and physically, which often came as a surprised due to her stature, and loved to help others. She was giving and caring in only ways a mother, grandmother, and friend can be. She was well known for her delicious meals, especially her peach cobbler and green beans. Her passing leaves an empty space in the hearts of those who were blessed enough to meet her; we can rejoice in knowing she knew the Lord and we will see her again one day.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lemuel and Lanese; siblings, Carl Radford, Francis Maul, Barbara Dunn, Janet Hale, Sterling Radford, and Ann Ford. Surviving to carry on her legacy are children, Rhonda (Clarence) Taylor, Carmen Bankhead, Dwayne (Veronica) Blackman, and Michael Priest; siblings, Vera Radford, Phyllis Radford, and Shirley Finley; numerous loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family members and friends.

Services will take place Saturday, August 29 at 11 AM at Living Word Baptist Church, 4934 E. 21st St., Indianapolis, IN 46218, with visitation one hour prior. She will be laid to rest at Floral Park Cemetery immediately following services.
