Carol J. Ayers, 77, of Westfield, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2022.  Carol was born July 7, 1944 in St. Joseph, MO to the late Norman and Ida Belle Hines.  She graduated with a degree in business from Washburn University. She grew up in St. Joseph and moved to Indianapolis with her husband Jerry and two daughters in 1974.

Carol volunteered with Crossroads Guild while staying home with her two daughters. She worked in Institutional Research at Butler University, retiring in 2001.  She was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church for over 45 years, having served as a trustee. She was on the board of Operation Friendship International and traveled as a youth advisor to Holland. She was also a Girl Scout leader for several years.

Carol was a talented seamstress, having made both of her daughters’ wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses.  She enjoyed travel with family and friends, including trips to Australia, Europe, China, a Disney Alaska Cruise and made visits to all 50 states. She was also an avid bridge player, often playing at The Bridge Center.

Family and friends are invited to gather Thursday, April 7 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Flanner Buchanan-Carmel.  A memorial service will be held Friday, April 8 at 1:00 pm at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, with additional calling from 12:00 pm until the time of the service.

Carol was the widow of Jerry Ayers.  She is survived by her daughters, Misty (husband, Todd) Ayers-Cumbow and Candy (husband, Ryan) Oldfather; her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, Taran Cumbow, Nick and Jenn Oldfather; brother, H. Lee (wife, Julie) Hines; sister-in-law, Cheryl (husband, Steve) Gross; niece, Alexa Lee; nephew, Jason Ayers. She was a devoted mother and wife and will be dearly missed.
