Calvin Robert Kassuelke was born on April 16, 1939, in New Ulm, MN. Cal graduated from high school in New Ulm and then worked for a dairy, delivering milk. He then became employed at Kraft Foods in 1959. He married Lonna Busiahn on September 24, 1960. Cal and Lonna lived in New Ulm until 1972 when Cal was transferred by Kraft to Champaign, IL. Cal moved his family to a house in St. Joseph, IL, where they made their home. All 4 of their children graduated from the St. Joe-Ogden High School. Cal retired from Kraft in 1996. Cal and Lonna moved to their current home in Fishers, IN in 2009.
Cal loved fishing, golf, woodworking, helping his children with home remodeling projects, playing corn hole, and spending time with his family. Cal was an active church member at several different Lutheran churches over the course of his life, currently Cornerstone. At Cornerstone, Cal enjoyed working at Sunrise, the Fine Arts Academy, Men’s Bible Study, and the Nativity Program.
Cal went to his heavenly home on November 3, 2022, surrounded by his family after a long journey with Alzheimer’s. Cal is survived by his loving wife Lonna of 62 years. His children, Vicky Preuss & husband Dean of Echo, MN, Bob Kassuelke & wife Becky of Ogden, IL, Christina Adamson of Fishers, IN, Emily Griggs & husband Jason of Edgewood, KY. Grandchildren, Brandon Preuss & wife Liza of Woodlake, MN, Teresa Preuss of Sioux Falls, SD, Brian Kassuelke of Danville, IL, Jessica Zagorski & husband Jacob of Allerton, IL, Nathan Adamson & Ellie Adamson of Fishers, IN, Tae Griggs & Carter Griggs of Edgewood, KY. Great granddaughter Rylee Preuss and two great grandchildren on the way.
Cal was preceded in death by his parents Wesley and Leona (Schreyer) Kassuelke, his in-laws, and grandson Derek Preuss.
Memorial contributions may be donated in Cal’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association and Connection Ministries.
