C. Jane Mills

Jane Mills, age 84, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away on April 8, 2025, in Noblesville, IN.

Jane graduated from Royerton High School in 1958 and moved to Minneapolis, MN, to pursue a business degree. She was a woman ahead of her time—fearless in her pursuits and passionate about her independence. Her professional journey was as dynamic as she was, including writing for The Star Press in Muncie, later becoming the franchise owner of Mod O'Day, a women's fashion store, and ultimately finding her calling as a successful, self-employed real estate appraiser. Her entrepreneurial spirit and determination were evident in every chapter of her career.

In 1983, she married the love of her life, Duane Mills. Together, they shared more than four decades of love, laughter, and partnership. Whether it was a late-night trip to IHOP, dancing to Reminisce at the Muncie Elks Country Club, or simply playing cards or bingo with friends, Jane embraced every moment with enthusiasm and heart.

Known for her impeccable style, Jane had a deep love for fashion, jewelry, and all things that sparkled. She firmly believed that every occasion—big or small—deserved a fabulous outfit and a touch of bling. Jane never missed a chance to dress up and shine brighter than the stars. If there was jewelry to be worn, you could bet she was wearing it—and probably in multiple layers! She loved dancing, shopping, and sharing meals with family and friends. Her undeniable sparkle lit up every room, and her presence always made any event feel a little more glamorous.

Jane is survived by her husband, Duane Mills; her daughter, Dawn (Doug) Dowd; granddaughter, Daylene (Andy) Gentry; and great-granddaughter, Nora Grace Gentry. She also leaves behind many dear cousins, extended family, and treasured friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Velma (Hightower) Lee and Samuel Reasoner.

Jane’s spirit will live on in the joy she brought to so many and in the way she showed us all that life is meant to be lived with style, grace, and a whole lot of sparkle!

Visitation for Jane will be from 1-2pm on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Flanner Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Good Shepherd Chapel) – 9700 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46250, with a funeral service immediately following at 2pm. Entombment will take place at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
