Byron Thomas Jackson, 77, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on January 22, 2025. He was born on August 22, 1947, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to parents, Byron T. Jackson and Tickey F. Jackson.
Tom was a loving husband, father, and an exuberant grandpa. He loved playing golf, hunting, and fishing in the Canadian Northwoods. Tom had a creative nature and immersed himself in watercolor painting during his retirement years. He and his wife, Joan, were deeply involved in their church and Bible studies throughout their lives together. Tom was an avid sportsman through high school, playing football and basketball at Columbus High school; and then football, rugby, and gymnastics at Indiana University. He and Joan met on a blind date and were married while attending Indiana University in Bloomington, where he also earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Kinesiology.
Tom is survived by his children, Ellen Jackson (Krag Oglesby), Mike (Emily) Jackson; grandchildren, Max Oglesby, Cooper Jackson, Isabelle Jackson, and Esther Jackson.
He was preceded in death by the love of his live, Joan Elaine (McHaffie) Jackson, his parents, Byron T. Jackson, Tickey F. Jackson and his younger sister, Sue Ann Jackson.
Visitation for Tom will be from 1:00 - 4:00 pm on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Flanner Buchanan - Carmel, 325 E. Carmel Drive, Carmel, IN 46032. A funeral service will immediately follow at 4:00 pm. Tom will be laid to rest at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
