Brittany Rose Kelly, 32, of Fishers, Indiana, was called home to be with her Heavenly Father on August 31, 2021. She was born on October 10, 1988, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Ken and Joni Kelly. Brittany was a PGA Professional and Assistant Pro at Woodland Country Club in Carmel, Indiana. Brittany is best known for blazing a trail for women’s golf. Recently she was the first woman in Indiana to be awarded the 2022 Indiana PGA Golf Professional of the Year and named Indiana PGA Women’s Player of the Year three consecutive years. Brittany was honored to hear that this award will carry her name from here forward. Brittany will posthumously be the first woman golfer to be inducted into Ball State’s Hall of Fame on September 24-25. Brittany was also the first female to win the Assistant of the Year in 2017. She was a member of the USA PGA Tournament Committee and the Indiana PGA Board of Directors where she co-chaired the Associates Committee focusing on improving the communication to/and education of Associate professionals. Brittany’s most memorable golf experience was when she was a member of the inaugural Women’s PGA Cup Team and helped the United States secure a victory in 2019.
Brittany loved the game of golf and enjoyed making it fun for others. She enjoyed spending time with her family and had a special bond with her nieces, Kaylee and Kinsey. She spent the last year and a half of her life being strong for everyone around her and shielding everyone closest to her from the pain she was in due to her ovarian cancer. She lived her life much like the words from a few of her favorite songs: Life Rolls On by Florida Georgia Line and When the Sand Runs Out by Rascal Flatts.
Brittany is survived by her parents, Ken and Joni; sister, Ashley (Matt) Pogue; and nieces, Kaylee and Kinsey Pogue. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 9 from 4:00 to 8:00 at East 91st Street Christian Church, 6059 E. 91st Street, Indianapolis, IN 46250. Funeral service will be on Friday, September 10 at 10:00 a.m. at the same location. Brittany’s final resting place will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250.
We would like to honor Brittany’s request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be sent to Ball State Women’s Golf, 2000 W.
