Brenda Lou Haus (Henderson), known for her fierce spirit and outspoken nature, was born on March 3, 1954, in Indianapolis, IN. After a battle with cancer she left us on November 17, 2024, at the age of 70, in the same city and home that watched her bloom from a spirited child into a dependable, feisty and resilient woman. Brenda was many things to many people. To her daughter, Betty Pauline Lee, born on June 3rd in 1973, she was a protective mother. To her ex-husband and best friend, Bob Haus, Brenda was a devoted partner, a lifelong friend, and a fellow traveler on life's winding road. She was close to her little sister Linda no matter what they went through. She was an Aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was a loyal cousin, niece and friend to a lot of wonderful people. Brenda was someone who believed deeply in the strength of family ties, summoned by her profound sense of loyalty. This is perhaps why she was so dedicated to being there for her parents and giving herself completely to their care until they both passed. She faced all the challenges of caregiving head on, this was a reflection of her loyalty and profound family values. Her actions spoke as loudly as her words ever could, leading by example she was embodying the true meaning of selflessness. Brenda maintained her parents’ home in honor of them keeping it as a beacon of love and laughter, and also, a fortress when needed. Brenda's tenacity and outspoken nature meant she never shied away from championing what she believed was right. This fierce protectiveness and commitment extended not only to her family but also to her friends. Brenda was not one to tiptoe through life. She was bold, outspoken, and fiercely loyal, especially when it came to her family. Active and committed in her family, Brenda took special pride in preserving over 60 gravesites of family and friends who had gone before her. Her relentless spirit extended beyond her immediate family, as she found purpose in maintaining the gravesites of all loved ones, ensuring their memories flourished as vividly as their lives once did. This task was more than a hobby; it was a labor of love, a testament to her belief in honoring those we love, even after they are no longer physically with us. She was also very crafty and could make old things look anew. Brenda had a green thumb and enjoyed working in the yard. She loved to make sure everyone was well fed. Her faith in the end was an integral part of her peace. She found personal solace in her faith and her relationship with Jesus shaped and comforted her pain. She accepted Jesus as her savior and found in him to be a source of strength, comfort, and direction in the end. Her faith guided her throughout her last weeks of life and provided her relief in moments that required more courage than most could muster. She was excited to be reunited with her daughter, parents, brothers and many family members she missed.Brenda was preceded in death by many fond family members. Brenda’s daughter, Betty Pauline Lee passed on September 12, 2020. Her parents, Ovean B Henderson and Betty Lou Henderson (Fehrenbach). Her brothers, Ovean “Bill” Henderson and Bobby Henderson. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends who will carry forward her legacy of love, strength and determination. Brenda was thankful for how well she was taken care of throughout her passing days by her nieces, partner Bob and her nephew David Boyd that dedicated a lot of time to making sure everything was as she wanted and needed and for assisting with her final arrangements. She appreciated all of those that cared for her in the end and wanted them all to know how grateful she truly was. Brenda was a planner. She had everything all planned out to her last breath so that her family had no burdens with her passing. A funeral service to honor Brenda's life will be held at Flanner Buchanan on November 29th from 4-8 PM and on November 30th from 1-2 PM, followed with a burial at Floral Park Cemetery. As we say goodbye, let us not grieve too deeply, for we are reminded in words she chose from her daughter’s funeral: "I am home in heaven, dear ones; Oh so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty In this everlasting light." “While Brenda may no longer walk among us, her spirit is everywhere. So, let us carry forward her zest for life, her dedication, spunk and her compassion, until the day we meet again. As Brenda enters her eternal home, she leaves us with encouragement. Her message is clear: to live with intention, embrace the light, and to meet the tasks life presents to us with the same passion and fierceness she embodied.
