Brenda Gilpin

Brenda Sue (Smith) Gilpin, age 68, of Indianapolis, passed away on April 7, 2020. Brenda was born on June 26, 1951 in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the Late Betty Marie (Smith) Cobbs.

Brenda had a beautiful singing voice, loved to dance, and was an avid traveler. She enjoyed traveling to destinations such as New York and New Mexico. She also enjoyed listening to all genres of music and liked to spend her time camping and fishing. Brenda was a dedicated employee for IPS where she spent 34 years as a valued member of the janitorial team. She was an animal lover and had a gentle soul. Most importantly she loved her family and cooking for her family. She made the best homemade biscuits. To say that Brenda was an amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend would be an understatement. Her passing leaves a hole in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those who were blessed to have met her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty; two of her sisters, Theresa and Betty “Janie”; and two of her great-grandchildren, Steven Honeycutt III and Destini Martin.

Left to cherish the memory of Brenda are her children, Rita Hannel (Mark), Steve Honeycutt (Linda), Peggy Routin (Marion), and stepson, Eugene Gilpin; her sisters, Sandy, Sherri, Marsha, and Cynthia; 9 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
