Brenda L. Culpepper

Brenda Kay Lancaster Culpepper, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and cherished community member, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025, at her home in Zionsville, IN. Brenda was born on September 9, 1946, in Rocky Mount, NC, to Louis E. Lancaster and Agnes Adele Weaver. She was 78 years old.

Brenda was raised on the beauty of her family farm in Castalia, NC and was a graduate of East Carolina University. She was married to her devoted husband William (Bill) Henry Culpepper, Jr. in 1967 for 57 years until the time of her death. She is survived by her husband and her two children: William Henry Culpepper, III, along with his spouse, Krispen Bolten Culpepper, and J. Scott Culpepper. She was the proud grandmother to Meridian Culpepper, Morgan (Culpepper) Humphrey, and Will Culpepper, IV and great-grandmother to James William Humphrey.

A dynamic and enterprising spirit, Brenda owned and operated Classic Fabric Designs, an interior design business that showcased her impeccable taste and creativity. Her passion for the arts extended to theater, where she served as a talented set designer for Cool Beans Productions, Union Street Theater in Westfield, and Theater at the Milk Building in Lebanon.

Brenda was committed to hospitality and acts of service towards family and friends, continually supporting and lifting them up in their endeavors. Brenda's commitment to community was evident through her involvement in the Assistance League of Indianapolis, where she served a term as its President, as a Sunday school teacher for many years at Northside Baptist church, and her active participation as a long-standing member of the Southern Club of Indianapolis.

Her legacy of service, creativity, and dedication will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Huntington’s Disease Society of America in Brenda's honor.

A memorial service to celebrate Brenda’s life will be held on Friday, February 28th at the 2nd Presbyterian Church, 7700 N. Meridian Street in Indianapolis. Visitation will begin at 11am and the service will start at 1 pm. Interment will be at Hamilton Memorial Park, 4180 Westfield Rd, Westfield IN, following the service.
