Brandi Renee White

October 10, 1972 — September 7, 2019

Indianapolis, Indiana

Brandi Renee White was born October 10, 1972 in Gary, IN to Melvin White and Barbara Thompson.

Brandi was born with Down’s syndrome and despite a grim prognosis at birth, she lived to exceed all expectations and grew into a beautiful woman.

Brandi accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and enjoyed going to church until she was no longer able to attend. She loved praising the Lord as she could; singing and waving her hands up to Him. She used to say at just the right times ” Lets Pray “. She was so delighted as she served as an escort to her pastor during his anniversary celebration.

Brandi also loved learning and was a proud graduate of Lincoln School in Gary, where she was a cheerleader and played basketball. As an adult she shared other interests as well; love for music- Usher, dancing- Michael Jackson, writing- as a daily job, cutting out paper- as a hobby and of course, when Brandi set her eyes on a man she liked- he was her boyfriend; don’t worry, we offed them all Lol. Some of her favorite foods- shrimp, bacon, eggs, Pop-Tarts and ANYTHING sweet.

To know Brandi was to know she truly loved her family. She was a devoted daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, auntie, cousin and mother to her (fur)- Baby, her dog. She often gave nicknames to her loved ones like: Bohog- a curse word, Homie, Densie, Sweetie, Hanky-panky, Fat Pat, Hey Sexy, Rudy, and My sister. Her given nickname by her nicknamed grandfather “Diddio” was “Pom Pom”. She never forgot birthdays and served to keep us up to date by reminding us. She absolutely loved a good conversation. God’s gift of Brandi taught us so much about acceptance, unconditional love, patience, and how to listen. Never forgetting your smile and laughter.

Brandi departed this life in the flesh on September 7, 2019 after a rare illness (progressive supranuclear palsy) sometimes associated with those of Down’s syndrome. Now her wings are spread, she’s in the presence of the Lord for the rest of eternity.

She leaves to cherish her memories; her loving mother Barbara (Henry) Thompson- Indianapolis, IN, her father Melvin (Jackie) White- Gary, IN, her maternal grandmother Ida Everett – Gary, IN, her siblings:  Derrick (Patricia) Adkins- Indianapolis, IN, Tracy Roberts-Indianapolis, IN, Sherri (Wallace) Stinson- Olive Branch, MS, Todd (LaShawn) White- Cincinnati, OH, Arletha White- Melbourne, FL, Diane (Lewis) Hill – Little Rock, AR, Carolyn Thompson – Southaven, MS, Lonnie (Talera) Thompson- Orlando, FL, Kalin Adkins- Gary, IN; aunts: Norma Brown, Ida Everett, and Gale (Dale) Moore; uncles: William (Vanessa) Everett, Johnny Everett, and Lawrence (Julia) Everett; Dog: Baby; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

We thank you God for gracing us with Brandi for 46yrs.
