BRADLEY ROBERT ARMSTRONG
August 27, 1974 – April 22, 2019
Brad Armstrong was a simple man with a personality larger than life. Everyone who knew Brad has a fun memory come to mind. He was the most sarcastic, fun-loving person you could ever meet. Brad never met a stranger. Brad could not be embarrassed. He was the best cook and mastered the smoker, the grill, and the souve. As a father he was the biggest kid in the bunch; fun, loving, and proud. Many Saturdays could be spent with dad thrifting at Goodwill or yard sales shopping for treasures. As a son he was curious from day one and brilliant. As a fiancé, he was able to bring together 2 families and unite all 8 of them together seamlessly. As a brother he was the first one to call you out, but the first one step up and protect us. Brad never forgot anything. He kept every single piece of knowledge about everything accessible at all times; he was also the most quick-witted person ever, and his responses came out without even thinking. His mind was a sponge and he was certainly the trivia king. He could carry on complete conversation using nothing but song lyrics and movie quotes. Brad loved fixing things. He could fix anything except the BMW that sat in his garage for 5 years. He loved woodworking, and could make beautiful pieces, even if it took years to get sometimes.
Brad served on the Indianapolis Fire Department for 13 years. He was sworn in February 13, 2006 with the Recruit Class #75. His current house was Station 1. Brad was so proud when got on the department and was in a career that he truly loved. He considered the people he worked with family and looked forward to going to work. He loved being the biggest prankster as well, including using fart spray, fireworks, and bricking shut someone else’s locker. But if you had to run into a burning building, Brad was who you would want to have your back.
He was the ultimate best friend, fiancé, teammate, brother, uncle, partner, son, dad, poppa, and will forever be missed.
Brad is preceded in death by his father, John L. Armstrong; his sister, Laura Terry; and his step-father, Gary Bippus. He is survived by his fiancée, Julie Lett; children: Nathaniel “Nate” Armstrong, Nicholas “Nick” Armstrong, Emma Armstrong, Ellieanna “Ellie” Armstrong, and Keagan Lett; granddaughter, Noa Knight-Armstrong; mother, Mary Bippus; and siblings: Angela “Angie” (Jim) Burgess, Emily (Andy) Hutcherson, and Molly Armstrong.
