Brad E. King

Brad E. King, a loving and kind soul with a great sense of humor, passed away in Anderson, Indiana on February 28, 2024. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on February 18, 1955. Brad will be remembered for his generous spirit and the profound love he had for his family and friends.


Throughout his life, Brad found joy in spending time outdoors with his beloved wife, Sherry. Whether it was fishing by the lake or hiking up picturesque trails, these moments together were cherished deeply.  Brad would take his and Sherry's lawn chairs into their backyard after she got home from work and make her sit with him out in the sun until it set. As well as getting up with Sherry every morning before she left for work, no matter the time and check the car to make sure it was okay and stand outside and watch her down the driveway. Family meant everything to Brad; he adored the company of his sons Shawn Standifer, Anthony King, and John King. His granddaughter Ruby held a special place in his heart and was truly his pride and joy.


Brad served his country with honor in the United States Army during the Gulf War as a Field Artillery Mechanic. His dedication and bravery were recognized with several accolades including the Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Achievement Medal, Marksman Badge Rifle, Sharpshooter Marksman Badge Grenade, and the Driver and Mechanic Badge.


One of Brad's proudest accomplishments was conquering the challenge of hiking up and completing Pikes Peak—a testament to his strength and determination. In his leisure time, he found solace in nature through activities like fishing and hiking, appreciating the beauty of the world around him. 


Brad is survived by his loving wife, Sherry King and their children, Shawn Standifer, Anthony King, John King, as well as his granddaughter Ruby King; stepsisters, Rosemary Whorley and Tina Smith. He is also remembered by other family members and a host of friends. He was preceding in death by his father, Carl King and stepmother, Thelma Kitchen.


Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 PM in Flanner Buchanan- Washington Park North 2706 Kessler Blvd W. Dr. Indianapolis on March 7, 2024.
