Bothwell Hamangaba Muhwanga

Bothwell Hamangaba Muhwanga, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on December 31, 2022, at the age of 24. Bothwell, affectionately known as “Papa” to his family, was born in Mongu, Zambia on September 1, 1998, to his parents, Moonga Chard Muhwanga and Barbara Chinyama Chiinda. In 2001, the family moved to Lusaka. As a child, Bothwell went to Fanyate Nursery School and then attended Libala SDA School from grades 1-5. While at Libala, he joined the church Pathfinder group where he made lifelong friends as they bonded through their beliefs in God. Bothwell finished primary school at Ezema and went to Libala Basic School for grades 8 and 9. In April 2012, Bothwell and his siblings moved to America to live with their father. The first school he attended in America was Andrew J. Brown Academy where Bothwell completed the 8^th grade as he became accustomed to American culture. Bothwell began high school in the summer of 2013. While attending North Central High School, Bothwell invested his time in weightlifting, Track & Field, intramural sports, studying, and starting his career at Chipotle Mexican Grill.

Bothwell graduated from North Central High School in 2017. He was an International Business Major at Bellevue University.  Bothwell worked at Chipotle Mexican Grill at the Nora location for the past 7 years, most recently as General Manager. He was passionate about using the knowledge learned in school to further his restaurant. The work ethic he developed translated into his relationships with both his family and friends.  Bothwell loved all genres of music, singing, and playing the piano and guitar. He enjoyed playing many sports: basketball games with his friends at the NIFS sports center, soccer, Track & Field, and football. Bothwell loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed by all.

Bothwell is survived by his parents, Mother, Barbara Chiinda, Father, Moonga Chard Muhwanga, Mother, Andrea Muhwanga (Yensho), Brother, Chard Muhwanga, Sister, Matakala Moonga Muhwanga, Brother, Jonathan Cowgill, Brother, Matthew Lukomano Muhwanga, Girlfriend, Grace Schumacher, Maternal Grandmother, Ellie Moonga, as well as multiple cousins, aunts, uncles.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Misheck Chiinda, maternal grandmother, Matakala Chiinda, and paternal grandfather, Bothwell Hamangaba Moonga.

Flowers and memorial contributions may be sent to Glendale Seventh Day Adventist Church, Indianapolis, on 62^nd Street. Visitation will be held from 10 am until 2 pm, Friday, January 13, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan—Washington Park East (10772 E. Washington Street Indianapolis, Indiana 46229.) A Funeral Service will be held at 2 pm, directly following the visitation. Burial will follow the funeral service at Washington Park East Cemetery.
