Bonnie Kay Pisano, Ph.D.
December 29, 1953 – June 12, 2024
Bonnie Kay Pisano was taken into heaven after a long illness on June 12, 2024. She leaves behind her grateful family, treasured friends, coworkers, and patients.
Bonnie was born into a General Motors family in Anderson, the daughter of Charles Jackson Smith and Mary June Watson. She grew up with sisters Maxine and Mollie and brother Charlie.
Bonnie was a force of nature who could not be stopped by anything or anyone. She worked at St. John’s Hospital in Anderson. She married Daniel Gray and had sons Nathan and Timothy. She remarried and had her son Christopher while earning her Ph.D. degree in Counseling Psychology at Ball State University. She worked primarily in outpatient private practice at multiple clinics. She contracted with other outpatient facilities to provide testing and psychotherapy services. She was an officer of the court for Marion County, working with troubled children and their families. She was a certified disaster counselor for the national American Red Cross. She was a physician liaison for Eli Lilly. In her spare time, she was a La Leche League leader, a Steven Minister for her church, a fundraiser for Gennesaret Free Clinic for the homeless, and an actress and stage manager for Civic Theater in Indianapolis. She was a scuba diver and hiked in the Grand Canyon. No obstacle could contain her spirit. Most of all, she was a lioness with her cubs. She nurtured her sons and grandchildren, sharing her strength, discipline, passion, purpose, and endless love. She taught them to endure temporary hardships gracefully and embrace their successes.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, sister Maxine and brother Charlie, and husband Daniel Gray. She is survived by her sister Mollie, sons Nathan (Brandy), Timothy (Carrie), Christopher (Zeida), grandchildren Presley and Jolie, and second husband Michael.
