Bobby Bruce King

March 11, 1956 — March 20, 2020

Indianapolis, Indiana

Bobby Bruce King, 64, of Speedway, Indiana passed away March 20, 2020. He was born March 11, 1956 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Thelbert and Flora King.

He was a lifetime Indiana resident and proud 1974 graduate of George Washington High School. Bobby spent his career working in the trucking and transportation industry; he was employed at Pace Transportation where he was the manager for trailer parts. He previously worked for Fruehauf Trailer Corporation (13 years) and Stoops Freightliner (26 years). Bobby met the love of his life, Debbie, in 1978, though the two did not come back into one another’s lives until 1997. Bobby and Debbie rekindled their relationship over dinner at The Starbar Lounge and the rest is history. The pair were married July 11, 1998. They spent 22 beautiful years together and remain deeply in love at the time of his passing. He was a simple man who loved his family, providing for his family, and sports of all kinds. Being a Speedway resident, he especially loved racing season and the thrill of both IndyCar and NASCAR races. He also enjoyed watching IU Football, IU Basketball, and the Indianapolis Colts. Bobby’s passing leaves an empty space in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know him; he will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thelbert and Flora; siblings, William Garner and Shirley Callahan. Surviving to carry on his legacy are loving wife, Debbie King; children, Andrew King, Adam (Alyssa) King, Brent (Alyssa) King; step-sons, Webb (Brandi) Dillard and David (Heather) Dillard; grandchildren, Nolan, Clark, and Bella; step-grandchildren, Emmy, Damien, and one more on the way; siblings, Marilyn Hargraves and Sandra (Steve) Standeford; his beloved four-legged fur baby, Jackson; as well as a host of extended family members, friends, and co-workers who all loved him deeply.

Services for Bobby B. King will be private. A memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
