Billie Sue Reach

Billie Sue Reach, 83, of Jasonville, Indiana passed away March 6, 2018. She was born July 3, 1934 to Londa Gilley and Luna Hensley in Closplint, Kentucky; their only child.

Sue met the love of her life, James ” Buddy” Reach through mutual friends. They married in 1955 and went on to have one child, Janice. She worked many years at Shepherd Poorman (now Harding Poorman) as a bindery operator, from which she retired. Family remembers Sue as a quiet woman with a sneaky sense of humor; she loved playing tricks on those around her. Though she liked to be the trickster, she had a sense of humor when it came to others getting the best of her. For instance, the time “Disco Ernie” made an appearance at a family function. If you’re not aware, Disco Ernie was an 80 year old, male exotic dancer and Sue took it all in stride, even if she did blush a little.  When she wasn’t sneaking hot peppers into other’s food for a laugh or some other sly trick, she loved food. From cooking to eating and making meals for others, she loved spending time in the kitchen. Sue also had a competitive streak; she loved games especially poker, bingo, marbles, dominos, and checkers. She was a one of a kind woman and leaves a truly beautiful legacy behind.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents; husband, the late James “Buddy” Reach; daughter; the late Janice Parker-Reach, and son-in-law; Carl Parker. She is survived by her grandchildren, Renee Huffines and Michael Kendall; great grandchildren, Steven and Brayden; as well as a host of extended family members who greatly cared for her. Family also wishes to recognize the amazing staff at Shakamak Good Samaritan in Jasonville, Indiana for the excellent care and companionship Sue was provided with. Your genuine care and hospitality is not unnoticed and your staff is truly appreciated by those you serve.

A graveside service will be held Friday, March 16 at 10 AM at Flanner Buchanan-Floral Park Cemetery, 425 N. Holt Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46222. All are welcome to attend.
