Beverly Ann Woods

November 29, 1959 — June 4, 2017

On Sunday, June 4, 2017 at age 57 years old, Beverly Ann Woods passed away at the St. Vincent Hospice Center in the company of her two sisters Sharon Smith and Carolyn Robinson.

Beverly, affectionately called “Bell”, was born to Walter and Annie Seawood on November 29, 1959 in Clarksdale, Mississippi. She was the fourth and shiest child of six children. Her early elementary education was started in the public schools of Mississippi; however, her parents soon moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1967 and she attended the Capitol City SDA Church School from 3rd to 8th grades under the spiritual guidance of Professor Charles Gray. She was taught of the Lord and thrived in this environment. She was a spelling bee champ, an avid sports fan who thoroughly enjoyed music and travel. Upon reaching 8th grade, she graduated President of her class in the midst of mostly male classmates and represented herself well. She attended Indianapolis Junior (Glendale) Academy for two years and graduated from Indiana Academy with her High School Diploma. After obtaining her Associate’s Degree from Indiana Business College, she prayerfully secured her first employment with the government working for Social Security Administration. She worked for the Social Security Administration for over 30 years, nourished valuable friendships and was very well respected.

On January 17, 1988 she married the love of her life, Victor Woods, with Pastor Jerome Davis officiating. There were no children to their union but Victor and Beverly happily adopted a Schnauzer to their home by the name of Sebastian. He was very much loved and spoiled by family and friends.

Volunteering her time with the church, she served in several capacities including: Sabbath School Secretary, Assistant to the Senior Citizens’ program, Assistant Treasurer, and a faithful Deaconess. She loved drama and participated with numerous productions with her sister Carolyn Robinson in productions including “The Crucifixion”, “Catwalk”, “Ain’t I a Woman”, and many others. Beverly loved to offer praise to the Lord using her perfect pitch vocals. She was involved in numerous musical programs and activities where she could sing to the glory of God. Over the years she sang in all the Capitol City Church choirs, praise teams and many special groups. Her most endearing time in song was singing with her sisters. She was also grateful for the opportunity to make her first CD/DVD contribution at the 2010 national Spring Into Praise Mass Choir Live Recording, “UNDER HIS WINGS”, recorded at the Morehouse M. L. King Jr. Chapel with her brother Bruce Seawood as Executive Producer. Besides singing, Beverly travelled extensively from coast to coast seeing the world with new eyes visiting such places as Canada, Hawaii, Bahamas, New York, Washington DC, the southern venues and many others enjoying each adventure. Lastly, she loved her family and especially gave faithful encouragement and support to ALL her siblings. Being such a generous heart, she gave freely to help family in whatever way she could.

During her illness she received special loving care by her sister-in-law Nurse Clementine Seawood, who spearheaded her care with the aid of niece Brittney Gilbert, her husband Victor Woods, niece Jasmine Robinson, her sisters and mother, Annie Seawood, who she lovingly called “Momma, my #1 care giver”.

Above all, she loved the Lord and was secure in her relationship with Him. Beverly had a saying which states “What God has for me, it is for me!” She is preceded in death by her father, Walter Seawood, an older brother Jerry Seawood (Juanita), and family pet Sebastian. She leaves to cherish her memories husband, Victor Woods, mother, Annie M. Seawood, siblings Alexander W. Seawood (Clementine), Walter E. Seawood, Carolyn E. Robinson (Joseph), Bruce N. Seawood (Shirlean), Sharon L. Smith (Andrew), sister-in laws: Melinda Harpe (Nathan), Bernadette Byers (Lewis), Nancy Taliaferro, Sheila Woods (Marc) and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.
