Beverly Ann (Schnippel) Goebel of Indianapolis passed away on July 13, 2019 at the age of 82. Beverly was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, James E. Goebel (d. 2016), and her parents Ernest (d. 1998) and Helen (d. 2006) Schnippel. Beverly is survived by her adoring children, Anne Goebel, John (Jana) Goebel, Mary Goebel, and Sharon (Paul) Caroselli; and grandchildren, Hannah and Abby Goebel; Adelina, Evangeline, and Kylie Caroselli; and Henry Goebel. Born in Beech Grove on June 19, 1937 and raised on the south side of Indianapolis, Bev attended St. Catherine Grade School and St. Mary Academy High School, followed by St. Vincent Nursing School and St. Louis University where she earned a BS in Nursing. After graduating, Bev worked at Riley Hospital in Indianapolis in the school-age unit where she was eventually named Head Nurse. Bev later returned to Riley part-time when her kids were older. Upon retiring, she and Jim enjoyed traveling together across the country and abroad. Bev was a devoted mother and wife as well as a doting grandmother, who found great joy in her family. She had a quiet strength but also an infectious laugh which at times rendered her breathless and left the rest of us tickled. She was a great cook, known for her spaghetti and meatballs, wheat bread, chocolate chip cookies, and creative birthday cakes. She was also a talented seamstress who made a lot of her kids’ clothes when they were younger, including Halloween costumes and doll outfits. Bev was committed to her Catholic faith and often volunteered at St. Michael the Archangel school and church, as well as in the community. She enjoyed playing Euchre with her girlfriends at Card Club, and loved cheering on the Pacers and the Colts. Bev was also a dedicated caretaker of both her parents as they became elderly. She was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease later in life and received excellent care from the Brookdale Hospice team at Robin Run Healthcare Center for the last few years. Bev was a wonderful example of tender-hearted compassion and unconditional love. Most of all, she was the best mom ever.
