Betty May (Hulett) Hoffmann

December 19, 1920 — January 21, 2022

Indianapolis, IN

Betty May Hoffmann (Hulett) passed peacefully in her sleep on January 21, 2022 at the age of 101. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Jones; her son, Jack Hoffmann; her grandchildren, CT Jones and Megan Kight, and; her seven great grandchildren, MacKenzie, Bennett, Ellie, Sutton, Sam, James, and Calvin. Betty was born in Indianapolis, IN on December 19, 1920 and graduated from Ben Davis High School before marrying JJ Hoffmann, to whom she was married for 64 years. Betty was a wonderful grandmother known for jumping on top of a careening go-cart to save her frightened granddaughter, serving her specialty ice cream and strawberry sauce, and being a spirited spectator at numerous horse shows, basketball games, and plays. Betty lived to know and love her seven great grandchildren who knew her as “Gramma Bette.” Betty was an animal lover and a friend to all barn cats and her beloved Jack’s Boy proudly ridden by her son, Jack.  She could light up a room with her warm smile and bright blue eyes, and her occasional flare for the dramatic had her children calling her “Frida Firelady” when she woke them at 5 am screaming “Fire!” because a tree a mile down the road was aflame. Betty will be missed, but lived a long life full of adventure, travel, many many moves, love and laughter.
