Betty Mae Swain

95, of Indianapolis, passed away on October 1, 2017. Betty had been a Fashion Buyer for L.S. Ayers, retiring in 1987. She was a member of East 91st Street Christian Church and OASIS. She loved life, dancing of all types, sewing and designing clothing. She once said, “It’s very important for me to be with others.” “It keeps me from being centered on myself.” She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Dwight Swain, and oldest daughter, Sandra Sue Lee. Survivors include children, Shirley Shevlin, Diane Hyde and Stephen Strieb; sister, Janet Arbuckle; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren and three great-great-great-grandchildren. Services will be Sunday, October 8, 2017 at 5 p.m. with calling from 3 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan-Broad Ripple. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to East 91st Street Christian Church or OASIS.
