Betty Jean Mcfall

On August 23, 1922, Betty Jean McFall was born to Robert and Laura Henderson of Indianapolis. Betty grew up on the south side, graduated from Manual High School, and married a southside boy, Albert McFall, as soon as he returned from WWII in 1944. As a young girl, Betty studied piano, and was an invited performer at the 125^th Grand Piano Festival at Butler University in 1936. Throughout her life, she was an active and dedicated member of Olive Branch Christian Church and later at Westview Christian Church. She worked for over 30 years for IPS and spent 24 of those years as the Registrar for Northwest High School. Like most folks, Betty tried retirement when she became eligible, but that slow and easy lifestyle didn’t suit her, so she spent the next ten years working in retail for Hallmark where she could stay busy and, more importantly, interact with lots of people. Betty loved people and cared about those she knew as shown by her 80-year membership in The Order of the Eastern Star.

Betty, age 99, passed away early in the morning on Thursday, January 20^th, 2022. Although she took a large and loving part of our family away, she left us with lots of great memories as well as the peace of knowing that she lived a full and rewarding life. Betty was preceded in death by Al in 1988, and by her son, Gary in 2007. She is survived by her daughter Nancy (Tim) Mosby, her two grandsons Brent (Whitney) and Brian, and her four great-grandchildren Grady, Kate, Bodie, and Lauren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation of American or Ronald McDonald House charities.

The family will receive friends and guests for viewing from 10-11 a.m. at Flanner Buchanan – Speedway at 2950 N. High School Road in Indianapolis, with funeral starting at 11 a.m. She will be reunited with Al at New Crown Cemetery following the funeral.
