Betty Jean (Simpson) Alexander, age 95, died September 30, 2017. Born in Indianapolis on September 22, 1922, Betty was the only child born to Ira and Mary Simpson. She has lived in the Indianapolis area her entire life including living in Fishers for 15 years to be close to her grandchildren. Betty worked in her early years at Link Belt Company in the accounting department, then at Marion County General Hospital (now Eskenazi Hospital) as an admitting officer in the emergency ward. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and husband John Alexander whom she lovingly cared for during his battle with Alzheimer’s until his health declined to the point where he need around the clock care. John’s last 5 years of life was spent in the Hooverwood Nursing Home where she dedicatingly visited at least 4 time a week.

Betty is survived by her daughter Debbie (Dan Smith), three grandchildren Kayla Treat, Kelsey and Kevin Smith. Her family meant everything to her. Her greatest enjoyment was babysitting her grandchildren and attending all their various activates. Betty was a tireless grandmother to the very end. When Betty’s health somewhat slowed down she moved into Crestwood Apartments North where she was very active in the Crestwood community. She loved playing Euchre and bingo as well as attending all of the holiday parties. Betty lived very happily at Crestwood for her last 10+ years of life.
